Shamanism and Spirits of Nature
Advanced Course for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies
Prerequisite: FSS Basic Course
Encino (Los Angeles area), California
From ancient times, shamans have worked with the spirits of nature for healing, survival, and knowledge. By learning from the plants and animals, from the rocks and mountains, from the winds and waters, and from the sun, moon, and stars, shamans helped their peoples live in harmony with the universe. In a world now out of balance, the way of the shaman can teach us how to respect nature, our Planet, and the inhabitants at a deep spiritual level. As our ancestors everywhere once knew, our survival depends on the survival of the other species. By working together intensively through shamanic journeys and other spiritual experiences, we will dedicate ourselves to working in both nonordinary and ordinary reality to restore and maintain a living Planet.
Note: The FSS Basic Course is a prerequisite for this workshop.
Course Hours: This is an intensive weekend course and participants should plan on being in Circle from 9am, Saturday morning - 10pm Saturday evening; from 9am - 3pm Sunday. There will be breaks for lunch both days and dinner on Saturday). Participants are encouraged, if at all possible, to make plans for lodging overnight on Saturday at Holy Spirit Retreat Center. This allows participants to take full advantage of being in Circle, of connecting with nature spirits at the Center, and for minimal interruption of shamanic process following Saturday night's ceremonial activities.
Location: This course will be taught at Holy Spirit Retreat Center, located at 4316 Lanai Rd. Encino, California. This is a lovely, eleven acre retreat center located in the San Fernando Valley (central to both LA airports). Holy Spirit has just reopend after a year of extensive remodeling - we have found this to be an excellent Center for doing this particular advanced shamanic course; the changes add to what was already a marvelous place. Costs for the retreat includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Lodging accommodations are available at extra costs and arrangements for such lodging must be made through the sponsor of this course.
Costs: $240 if registered by October15; $255 for registrations received after October 15.
